For many this week will be full of chat about the resumption of football up and down the UK and the hopes fears of everyone’s teams will be discussed. But for all those who need an escape there are plenty of gigs and one last festival to round out this summer.

Safe Ships – Voodoo, Belfast – Thursday 21st August 2014

The final chance to see the hardcore punk shenanigans of Safe Ships before half of the band move across the water. Bring you ear plugs it will undoubtedly be a ferociously loud evening. Support comes from Lantern For a Gale, Small Hawk Orchestral and Spittin’ Teeth.

Admission is £5 on the door


Volume Control: Summer Fest – Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast – Saturday 23rd August 2014

Always known for their strong line-ups, the young team at Volume Control have put together an indoor festival of their own. Set over the course of a Saturday afternoon and evening, you’ll get the opportunity to see The Wood Burning Savages, The Clameens, His New Atlas, BeeMickSee, Those Ghosts, Sullivan & Gold, LORIS, Freak’s, Owen McGarry, Jamie Brown, Paper Man, Treehome, and Patrick Moore.

Tickets are £8 on the door


Sunflowerfest 2014 – Tubby’s Farm, Hillsborough – Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th

The final festival of this summer takes place this weekend at Tubby’s farm. Headlined by the likes of The Answer, Orb and Mojo Fury, it’ll be your final fix of great local music and camping under the stars.
