Rob’s Gig Guide: 19th – 25th August 2013

To say that I am exhausted this afternoon would be an understatement. As the designated driver for Chordblossom’s expedition to Cut the Transmission Festival yesterday I only arrived home to my bed at approximately 3.30am. The Festival curated by Fighting With Wire to celebrate their last ever show was a triumph and one that many will never forget. While I’m devastated that one of my favourite local bands have called it a day, I was delighted to have experienced the final set.

Before Machines – Limelight 2, Belfast – Wednesday 2nd October 2013
Yet another local band is calling it a day, the popular lads from Before Machines have decided that the time is nigh. Despite the obvious sadness they are making their album, Tundra, available for FREE download and will dance off into the sun set with this last show. Support from Elspeth & Audio Cavalry.

Entry is £4

R51 – Pavilion, Belfast – Wednesday 2nd October 2013
Art rockers R51 play their first show since opening Sunflower Fest back in August. The band won over our Al Gilmore and solely on that basis is it worth your attention. Support comes from The Runaway Bears and brand new band, I am the Grasshopper.

Entry on the door is £3

Levity Breaks – Limelight 2, Belfast – Thursday 3rd October 2013
Melody masters Levity Breaks have put together their debut EP, Maudlin and are having a wee shindig in the Limelight 2 as a result. The supporting cast is of a high quality too; in my opinion one of the best singer song writers in NI at the minute, David C Clements. Also a new band, Flaws – made up of the ashes of In Case of Fire…

Entry is £5
