Premiere: Part Time Pilots – Pandora’s Box

Robert Brown by Robert Brown
May 5, 2017
in Fresh Northern Irish Music
Part Time Pilots

Omagh’s Part Time Pilots have been floating about for the best part of five years with several full length releases already under their belt. The follow up album to previous record, Tally Ho Amigo has been three years in the making and the band are describing it as a concept album. The band are almost ready to unveil the album to the general public and have kindly given us the privilege of sharing the lead single, ‘Pandora’s Box‘ with you all.

Long time followers of the band will notice the more nuanced approach which is a little less punk or in your face than their previous work. That doesn’t mean that the energy or passion is lacking, more that Part Time Pilots have focused their energy on creating a dirty, grunge rock sound that brings them much closer musically to their quoted inspirations in Band of Skulls and the Menzingers. With Pandora’s Box truly open, we can only say that we are looking forward to getting our hands on the whole album.

“Pandora’s Box explores the explosive jealousy of a love drunk protagonist, whose feelings are unreturned.  The words used are a confused struggle of slander and sympathizing with the lady Pandora. The music intends to capture the anger and passion.  The whole album is a concept we’ve been working on for 3 years and is very different to our usual work. This track was recorded at Smalltown America Studio. The album How to Ruin Everything is being launched in Bogans Bar Omagh on 16th June 2017.”
