Premiere: Reevah – 26.

Reevah Older Now

Derry based singer-songwriter Aoife Boyle, commonly known as Reevah is releasing her latest single ‘26.’. Today, we are excited to premiere it here on Chordblossom.

‘26’ is a melodic and melancholic song which explores her feelings about her life and relationships at the age of 26. From the outset, Reevah sets a mature and reflective tone. There is clear growth as both a songwriter and lyricist. Reevah’s plucked reverbious electric guitar echoes throughout the song. The song crescendos through the chorus bringing in piano chords and light strings. With the sparse and simple instrumentation, Reevah’s unique rich voice is the ear’s focus and give the lyrics a greater impact. The space between allows for a thoughtful meditation on change.

This is Reevah’s first solo release following her debut EP Hummingbird. Reevah has spent time collaborating with the Ulster Orchestra on a special project as well playing across Belfast and Derry, but has returned to her own music with a new sense of purpose.

’26.’ is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Reevah, and yet a step in a new direction. It is a beautifully produced track, both sweet and delicate with a sense of nostalgia. Reevah has shown a real sense of growth opening up to vulnerability and thoughtfulness.
