Watch: Colm Warren – Shame

Watch: Colm Warren – Shame

Colm Warren returned in from the cold a couple of months ago, putting out his first new music in a number of years. The Belfast artist was best known fronting punk band The Twenty, a band we grew to love in their heyday. 2020’s Colm Warren however is a different beast, treading the path of the singer-songwriter. Following debut single ‘Void’, Warren returned again last month with ‘Shame’,

Wrought with emotion, ‘Shame’ is a heartfelt portrayal of loss. With his punk days behind him, Colm Warren’s voice sounds at home amongst considered acoustic guitar and string crescendos. It’s the stunning string parts that elevate Warren’s darker lyrics into something more rousing. The second of two videos recorded with Matty Killen of MK Freelance Film is another emotionally and cinematically shot affair.

After years of struggling to write and engage with music, ‘Shame’ shows the creative spark that has returned to him is not being wasted.
