▶ What’s the story behind your stage name?
I always intended to use my own name instead of an alias. I tell stories through my song writing. They represent who I am and the experiences that I’ve had. I want to let my personality show when I perform and keep things as open and honest as possible for anyone listening to relate to.
▶ When did you start playing music and how would you describe your sound?
Music has always been a major part of my life. I’ve been attending classical singing lessons at the McCafferty School of Music since the age of 5. I started playing piano when I started secondary school and that lead to my new found interest in the acoustic guitar and song writing. My music is a combination of indie, folk and alternative sounds.
▶ What music have you put out so far?
I released my debut single ‘Song To Make You Smile’ on July 20th for free download (by signing up to my mailing list on bandcamp). It was recorded and mixed by Niall Dalton and mastered by Tim Debney (Fluid Mastering). I’m also working on a new E.P at the moment which is coming soon!
▶ Is there a particular live show which stands out amongst all the rest?
The SYNC anniversary show in the Craft Village in Derry was an amazing gig and an incredible way to showcase everything I learned during the course at The Nerve Centre. It’s difficult to choose but it is between Sync, Record Store Day 2014, Music City, Other Voices Music Trail or Glasgowbury 2013.
▶ What has been the highlight of the journey so far?
I was only fifteen at the time, but playing at Glasgowbury last year was definitely the best experience that I’ve had so far. It was a day that I’ll never forget and it helped build my confidence so much. It was also an incredible feeling to release my first solo track and get such amazing feedback from all over the world.
▶ You are in control of forming a 4 piece ‘super group’ – who is in it and what do they do?

▶ If you were to go on a world tour and you could pick any 3 acts come along, who would they be?
I love local music and one of my favourite bands from here is The Wood Burning Savages. They’re all such nice guys and they’ve been really supportive to me! It’s great to see local bands doing so well. I’d also bring Hudson Taylor and The Paper Kites… Can you tell I have a mild obsession?
▶ What would be the 3 strangest things on your rider if you were able to make any demand?
I have a slight obsession with Yankee Candles and fairy lights, so plenty of them. I’ve recently discovered herbal tea, so I’d stock up on Strawberry and Mango tea. That would be amazing!
▶ Who has been your biggest inspiration as a musician?
I mentioned it before, but I’m so inspired by local musicians like Glenn Rosborough, The Wood Burning Savages, Paddy Nash and Little Hooks. They have all been so supportive of me and helped me to develop as a songwriter and as an artist and given me the confidence to continue. Gabrielle Aplin is my biggest musical inspiration. She’s the reason I started to learn the guitar and I think her story is incredible. It has been amazing watching far she has come in such a short time.
▶ Is there a particular aim or goal which you hope to achieve through music?
I love playing shows and festivals. My dream is to play at Glastonbury or T in the Park. I’d also love to keep releasing music and get it to as many people as physically possible!
