Lost Avenue – Daggers

Lost Avenue, with support from Foreign Owl & What About Bobby
Friday 24th June 2016 – Sandinos, Derry

The last few years has firmly re-established Derry as Music City with an abundance of young, energetic and fervent bands emerging. Lost Avenue who formed in 2010 has certainly helped enhance the revival of the local scene with their pure punk attitude. Releasing their double, A-side single Killing time/Sudden Death to a very eager crowd in Sandino’s Derry it is evident the bands constant presence over the last few years has built them a very considerable fan base.

The track which received its first air play on Huw Stephens Show from Phil Taggart on BBC Radio One has been receiving a substantial amount of airtime. From the minute Lost Avenue arrive on stage the crowd are in a frenzy, moshing and head banging throughout. There is a lovely camaraderie between the boys with singer Dylan Bradley and bass player Dualta Lewington exchanging looks of recognition during their set. Bradley’s vocals are raw and raspy vocals and are perfectly exhibited on songs such as ‘Cut my Chord’.

With sweat dripping, tops inevitably come off as drummer Michael Brown is giving an incredibly energised performance. ‘Killing Time/ Sudden Death’ has the audience in a furore as we hear deep guttural screams from Bradley and synchronised jumping from both him and Lewington.

Before leaving the stage the boys made sure to put on another show with some Wrestlemania moves to end the night. With Bradley saying “We are Lost Avenue, goodnight” the band exit the stage before I have time to blink and end in the same whirlwind that they began.

‘Killing time/Sudden Death’ is available through Spotify and iTunes.
Lost Avenue will play in HMV Belfast on Saturday 2nd of July and Whelans Dublin on Friday 1st of July.
