18th Annual Ards International Guitar Festival Launched

For guitar and music lovers everywhere, this year’s Ards International Guitar Festival is celebrating its 18th Birthday in style this October (02nd-05th) with a jam packed programme of slap tapping, plectrum plucking, foot stompin’ gee-tar playing to suit everyone’s taste. The annual event that began life a small classical festival, in recent years has taken on a much more international and eclectic feel. Although still a niche festival, it provides opportunities to see world class guitar players at intimate gigs and outside of City centre venues.

Featuring internationally renowned musicians including:

Pierre Bensusan, Frank Vignola & Vinny Raniolo, Flamenco Fiesta, Colin Reid & Brian Keenan,  The 4 of Us, Chris Woods Groove, The Sabrejets, Rab McCullough, Amanda Agnew and many more.

You’ll also find free fringe concerts, clinics with guitar professionals and an intimate performance session with the Classical Guitar Society of Northern Ireland and Pat Coldrick.

Festival Director Emily Crawford says ʻ’This year’s Ards International Guitar Festival is celebrating its 18th Birthday and is tuning up to be one of the most eclectic in the events history. There are lots of guitar based events happening over 4 days at the start of October and we’re particularly excited about our Flamenco Fiesta featuring John Walsh, José Manuel León and Salvador Andrades and we look forward to welcoming the inimitable Pierre Bensusan as he celebrates his 40th anniversary tour.

We welcome a new partnership with the Echlinville Distillery, and with free fringe gigs and a programme of Guitar Clinics, there really  is something for everyone”.
