Atlantic Sessions Returns With A Stellar Programme For 2016

Atlantic Sessions 2016

The Atlantic Sessions has been a stalwart of the local music scene up the North Coast for a number of years now. For 2016 the festival of sorts returns with a stellar programme of live events for all you music aficionados. If anything the line-up is nearly too good with the four days (Thursday 17th – Sunday 20th November 2016) offering up plenty of difficult choices.

The festival returns with the support of the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council as well as Help Musicians NI who are the official sponsor. This year the festival is dedicated to the memory of Henry McCullough, the talented guitarist who died earlier in 2016.

Thursday’s tough choice is between Malojian at the Flowerfield Arts Centre and David C Clements at Portstewart Town Hall but there is also music from Errol Walsh and Ted Ponsonby in the Anchor or An Evening with John T Davis in the Portrush Film Theatre.

On Friday night, you can head to the Flowerfield for From Waylon To Willie – Celebrating The Outlaws, A Raised Voices night with Ralph McLean. Although our pick on the night would be the stunning line-up in Portstewart town hall of PORTS, Joshua Burnside and Rachael Boyd. Plus you may still have time to catch Michael Mormecha run through his debut solo record.

Saturday night will feature an In The Round session featuring Duke Special, Verse Chorus Verse and The Darkling Hour in the Portrush theatre at Kiwis, meanwhile the Venue at Kiwis will host two very special bands in the form of Documenta and ex-magician later that evening.

As the Atlantic Sessions wind down on Sunday, you will also have the opportunity to go for Sunday brunch with Tom McShane and Best Boy Grip, go In the Round with Ken Haddock and Matt McGinn, join Jealous of the Birds and Ryan Vail for a single launch and help Arborist launch their new album.

All the events listed above as part of the Atlantic Sessions are completely free but it is recommended that you register for tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. You can find out more about all the events on offer and register for your tickets at: www.atlanticsessions.com
