Pale Lanterns Crowned Winners Of Kickstart 2018

by / May 16, 2018

On Saturday evening at Foundry in Belfast our Kickstart competition came to a close for yet another year. We were treated to brilliant sets from our finalists SX-70, Pale Lanterns, Gemma Bradley and Paper/Boy with each doing their best to impress our panel of judges.

In what was probably the closest final in recent times, our panel deemed that the encompassing indie folk of Darragh Donnelly’s Pale Lanterns would be crowned winners of Kickstart 2018. The six-piece just about squeezed onto the stage on the night and they can be delighted what how their first ever show went. You can check out their latest single ‘In The Dark We Are’ below.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Help Musicians NI for their support throughout the competition, to Shizznigh Promotions for helping organise the showcase gig and of course to all the organisations donating their time and energy to offer our winner the awesome prizes below:-

Thanks to all the bands and musicians who entered, it really is exciting for us to see how much great talent there is in Northern Ireland. We are sorry that we cannot give you all the support and help that you deserve but we are trying our best. Please don’t forget that our door is also open, so message us if you ever need a hand.

A final thank you to all our friends that came to the showcase gig. You should really check out Conor Kerr’s photographs of the showcase. We think it really important to support local music and are glad you feel the same way. We will keep you updated on the progress of Pale Lanterns over the coming months but that should be the last year you hear about Kickstart until it starts all over again in 2019….
