As a regular name in families’ summer diaries and a staple part of the artist festival-circuit, Hillsborough’s own Sunflowerfest has been nominated for Tourism NI’s Northern Ireland Tourism Awards 2017 – with the 2016 festival being nominated in the Best Festival Experience category.
Shortlisted alongside vibrant and innovative events such as the Carnival of Colours and the Belfast Christmas Market, NI’s only 3-day festival of music and arts is flying the flagship for national recognition of what festivals can contribute to our regional identity and world-class tourist industry.
Highly prestigious, the awards recognize the hard-work and innovation of NI businesses and collaborators. The only music festival featuring in this year’s shortlist, Sunflowerfest follows last year’s nominees Derry’s international Irish music festival Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, and Van Morrison: Live on Cyprus Avenue – which lost out to overall-winner the Circuit of Ireland Rally.
Sunflowerfest has been quick to credit the contribution of the creative scene to its privileged position:
“Without the continued support of all the people who come to the festival every year we wouldn’t be in the privileged position where we can provide both a world-class festival experience and a platform for all of our musicians and artists, and we would be honored if you gave us your support by voting here.”
