Festival Preview: Monsters of Rot V 2015

Monsters of Rot V Festival
Letterbreen – 1st August 2015

Consisting of old and new members of the MOR crew, Henchman Promotions has dredged the Monsters of Rot festival from the Fermanagh bog to return for its 5th instalment in 2015. Henchman Promotions and Monsters of Rot V team are teaming up with Planetmosh, The Oaks Recording Studio, and Irish Metal Archive to congeal the most depraved and disgusting lineup of underground reprobates from around Ireland, UK & Europe!

Monsters of Rot V takes place in The Halfway Inn, Letterbreen Co. Fermanagh, which is just 4 miles outside Fermanagh’s main town, Enniskillen. The venue will feature 2 bars, a marquee, campsite, fast food catering (including vegan options), merch area, disabled access and portaloos, body piercing, poi artists, activities and much more! There is also a shop/petrol station with cash machine situated less than 100 meters from the venue. There will be a local taxi company on standby, ready to ferry festival goers to wherever they need to go.

So, what does that mean for punters? It means an all day festival packed full of dirty riffs, bludgeoning beats and crusty grooves to sink your teeth into (and an almost guaranteed case of headbanger’s neck the next day).

Headliners Xerath are sure to delight as they bring their orchestral brand of groove metal to the party and undoubtedly blow everyone away, as will Irish grindcore veterans Abaddon Incarnate, who are still going strong after over twenty years in the business.

► Top Picks

MOR is largely a local festival, with acts from all over the island of Ireland. Northern acts that are in the lineup include reclusive Fermanagh proggers 100 Forests, sludgy, stoner doom merchants Bad Boat, and Derry hardcore firebrands Axecatcher.

Also on the bill are Belfast modern metalheads Altus, who have really hit their stride now their new line-up has bedded in. These guys always bring their ‘A’ game live, so they are definitely worth checking out.

If that’s not enough there’s also Austrian goregrind lunatics VxPxOxAxAxWxAxMxC, Dublin death metallers Guttrench and Drogheda crust punk/doom metal crossovers Okus, to name but a few.

This festival has gone from strength to strength since its inception, and has become a real ‘must see’ in the local heavy music scene.

► Details

Tickets are priced at £15/ 18 euros which includes camping, and are available at the gate.

Monsters of Rot V is an all day festival located at the Halfway Inn in Letterbreen, Co Fermanagh, on Saturday 1st August. The venue opens at 12 noon, with bands playing from 1pm to 1am.
