Seneron – Order Restored

seneron - order restored

Around these parts, there has been a spate of bands emerging with a proper rock ‘n’ roll influence. The likes of Million Dollar Reload, Baleful Creed and today’s subject, Derry-based band Seneron, are all proudly flying the rock flag. This is what we would all be listening to if the 90’s hadn’t happened, if grunge hadn’t kicked hair metals ass, if punk hadn’t barged into metal’s territory and birthed hardcore. This is classic ‘rawk’ here folks.

This, their second EP (following last year’s ‘Well Driven’) opens with the riffalicious ‘Please Me’. Vocalist John Shields’ warm, gravelly voice will instantly put a smile on your face, and the driving beat will put a tap in your toe. By the time track two ‘Stand Your Ground’ kicks in, it is clear that Seneron have honed their sound from the quite melancholy alt-rock of their first EP to a richer, more coherent beast.

This is a highly listenable EP. The next challenge for the band is to release a full-length album with no ‘filler’ tracks. Will they adopt an ‘if it ain’t broke’ philosophy, or again develop their sound to a higher level, as they have successfully done here? Time will tell.

In the meantime, grab your denim jacket and your air guitar, and enjoy this slice of rock heaven.
