‘Queen of the Rodeo‘ marks the start of a new musical journey for Patrick J. Hodgen under the moniker Vivamagnolia. Released through Quiet Arch this Friday, and premiered here, the songwriter’s debut is likely to hit the spot for those looking for their fix of lo-fi alternative rock.
A self proclaimed penchant for American college rock is evident in ‘Queen of the Rodeo’. While Hodgen’s vocals offer an interesting proposition, it will undoubtedly be the exuberant guitar that makes you want to hit the repeat button.
‘Queen of the Rodeo’ demonstrates that Vivamagnolia have promise and hopefully the full length EP, out 14th February, will offer us a further glimpse at their pedigree.
“This song was written back in 2016, it hasn’t changed at all since then. I love the mid-90s American College Radio sound and I was really going for it on Queen of the Rodeo. It’s like it came from a Cadillac’s Ariel somewhere in Carolina – I’m proud of this track.”
