Stream: Eoin Agnew – Abigail

Daniel Graham by Daniel Graham
April 4, 2019
in Fresh Northern Irish Music
eoin agnew

‘Abigail’ is the debut single from the man of many talents that is Eoin Agnew. Not only is he a singer-songwriter, he is also a poet, a student teacher, an indie music connoisseur and an avid gig- goer on the local scene. Not forgetting that he also finds time to host gigs in his hometown of Ballymena.

‘Abigail’ is the culmination of all the feelings and moments from that first date and the ensuing events that follow. From the texts and the calls to nothing at all’s, Eoin’s word play has perfectly caught this moment that all Millennials face at some point in their life, especially from this part of the world.

Reminiscent of bands from the Midwest, including Modern Baseball and The Front Bottoms, ‘Abigail’ is an indie pop sing-a-long. Even throwing in a Band New Friend shoutout, this is a great start from Eoin in his pursuit of tone. The future looks bright for many young musicians from these shores and it won’t be long before we’re adding Eoin Agnew’s name to that list.
