Way back in 2015, Lilla Vargen appeared out of thin air and blew us away with her debut release ‘This is Love’. Featuring just her stunning vocals and piano, it was stripped back and emotional. Now a couple of years on, she has returned with new single ‘Hold On’.
There has been only occasional new music and live shows since that first track made considerable waves, but ‘Hold On’ marks a big step for Lilla Vargen. Hailing from the North coast, details of the songwriter are hard to come by, letting the music speak for itself. With that being said, ‘Hold On’ is a big statement. Written for a friend in love and built around a bed of simple acoustic guitar, Lilla Vargen’s vocals are incredibly stirring and emotional. Few songwriters would have been able to generate this sort of response after a two gap in releases, but then as ‘Hold On’ shows, this one is capable of some truly beautiful music.
Alongside an appearance at last weekend’s Hard Working Class Heroes and with an EP on the way in the next month, it’s safe to say you’re going to hear a lot more from Lilla Vargen very soon.
