Stream: Rory Nellis – January

Stream: Rory Nellis – January

We may have moved into February now following a long, long start to the new year but, ‘January’, the newest single from Rory Nellis is still well worthy of attention.

Rooted in the simplicity of winter, ‘January’ is a soft and melodious ode to the first month of the year. Rory Nellis’ vocals are given a choral treatment amongst acoustic guitar so intimate as to hear every finger scratch on the strings. Built around Nellis’ voice and guitar playing, the song develops into lush but wintry harmonies and piano. ‘January’ exudes the warmth of a soothing folk song while reflecting the cold weather of the season.

‘January’ follows on from a double Christmas single and should be the first of more to come from the Belfast songwriter this year.
