Peter McVeigh – Lights

Peter McVeigh – Lights

Peter McVeigh is no stranger to the limelight. Having previously fronted Belfast based band Eskimo Falls, Peter is clearly very passionate about his music and working with the local music scene. His debut EP Lights is a four track musical journey of losing the one you love, and the emotional baggage that comes along for the ride.

Lights is a solid introduction into the world of Peter McVeigh, a man who is also no stranger to having his heart-broken. Powered by acoustic guitars and the tinkling of the ivories, Peter’s talents as a songwriter go hand in hand with his humbleness as he perfectly depicts scenarios that anyone who has been unlucky-in-love can certainly relate to.

I can only fault the EP in over-indulging in it’s softer side particularly with tracks “Judas” and “Dancing.” Whilst beautifully written and full of emotion, they can’t top “Out of Control” which is a refreshing change of pace. This upbeat rockier track shows that even while wearing his heart on his sleeve, he can still have a good time belting one heck of an anthem. This is one that will surely have audiences singing along during live performances.
