Sporadic releases and a well-travelled lifestyle have at times kept songwriter Travis is a Tourist at arm’s length from the regular Belfast and Northern Ireland music scenes. The man behind the name, Travis Gilbert, has been busy splitting his time between Belfast and Paris plus touring Europe and the UK with Ryan McMullan but following March’s single ‘B e f o r e y o u g o g o’, he has unfurled another smooth and stellar track, ‘SOFARSOGOOD’.
Another single, another frustrating to type track name but more importantly another big tune, ‘SOFARSOGOOD’ continues Travis’ form for effortless cool in the past couple of years. Taking production to new levels from his earlier work, the track pulls together textures of synth, keys, guitar and percussive elements to combine indie pop with RnB. On ‘SOFARSOGOOD’, the songwriter tracks his lifestyle through an easy going lens, further documented through an array of ‘home footage’ in the video, with Travis’ vocals and lyrics as good as they’ve ever been.
‘SOFARSOGOOD’ is perfectly pitched to soundtrack long summer days and chilled evenings, with Travis is a Tourist in a rich vein of form once again. The release comes ahead of a couple of summer gigs alongside friends and pop cohorts Blue Americans. They both play The Menagerie, Belfast on 2nd August.
