Following the release of her latest single ‘Down Days’ last month, ROE has hit us with a video for the track. We’re delighted to give you a first look.
The past year has seen the young Derry artist transition from one to watch status to a firm favourite and undoubtedly one of the brightest rising stars in Irish music. ‘Down Days‘ follows the biggest moment of her career, supporting Snow Patrol across multiple UK dates on their arena tour, playing to her biggest crowds yet.
‘Down Days’ has ROE, a repeated advocate of mental health awareness, looking within and accepting that those “down days” will happen but that’s ok. In the beautiful and touching video, filmed, directed and edited by Sean McMullan, ROE offers us a personal look in line with the track’s theme. A glance behind the scenes at studio days and personal relationships, interspersed with childhood images and an emotive Roisin McDonald.
The contrast of an artist reaching the biggest audience of her career to date yet still keen to remain introspective and put her emotion at the forefront is admirable. But this is something we have come to expect from this real talent, who continues to produce music that strikes a chord with whoever will hear it. And now, there’s a lot more people listening.
ROE hits the road again early next month with a number of Irish dates. Shows in Dublin and Galway are supported by New York artist Yoke Lore, with tickets available here. Her Belfast show in the Empire Music Hall features a wonderful line up with tickets available on the door.
