June 2016 saw the release of the debut single from the self-proclaimed ‘baddest band in Belfast’, Bad Fit. Since then, the band whose first show was an Always in Sunny Philadelphia themed affair, have kept busy with some well-received gigging. But it’s been a bit of a wait for Bad Fit’s follow-up, and now 8 months later it’s here.
With ‘In The City’, the band deliver more of their harmonious, laid-back indie rock. The stripped-back and slow burning introduction moves steadily below Grace Loughrey’s vocals. While the track goes through various movements and the instrumentation rises in tempo, Loughrey’s bittersweet voice centres the whole thing, sounding both mournful and sentimental. The lyric video for the track is a VCR art inspired collage, with retro looking space imagery.
Hyperbole abounds in the music world but Bad Fit and their endearing dream-pop sound have shown enough to win them plenty of admirers.
