In April 2022 we were delighted to announce that Heart Shaped won the 2022 edition of our Kickstart competition. Since then Kendall and her band have been hard at work with Declan Legge recording and producing their new single, ‘Felt’.
‘Felt’ finds Bousquet refining her style of glittering and expansive power pop interwoven with narrative introspection. The track features fuzzy guitars and shimmering synths over a disco-inflected backbeat which underpin a meditation on the self-deception at the heart of a tumultuous relationship.
We are thrilled that the new single is ready to be released and are delighted to be hosting a single launch for it next month. The launch will take place at the Ulster Sports Club on Saturday 15th April 2023. It is an early show with doors at 7pm with proceedings wrapping up by 10pm, leaving you free to explore Belfast’s nightlife afterwards.
Tickets for the event are available at an early bird price of £8 online via WeGotTickets or will be available on the door for £10.
Support on the night comes from Dublin indie rock four piece, banríon. Their music pairs a jangly indie rock sound with soft lyrics about songwriter Róisín’s experience of disability, love and loss, set in the ever changing city they are all cursed to love.
They established themselves “as one of the most thrilling new forces in Irish indie-rock” according to Hot Press with their first release – the self recorded and produced EP ‘airport dads’ in 2020. The EP was critically acclaimed with reviews from Nialler9, Hot Press, The Thin Air and landed banríon a support slot on Pillow Queens Irish tour.
Opening proceedings for the launch will be Belfast’s own Niall McDowell, a queer folk and alt-country singer/songwriter. Their music has been described as “somewhere between a choirboy and a cowboy” by BBC Radio 1.
Songs such as ‘Brokeback’ and ‘It Was An Honour To Be Nominated’ were lauded for their whip-smart writing and vulnerable production. “The voice is beyond category” Stu Bailie, Dig With It and “Full of life and charm” – Nialler9.
