Coaster - 2018 poster - Copy

This July the inaugural outing of Coaster takes place in the seaside town of Portrush. Put together by CATALAN!‘s Ewen Friers, the DIY event is billed as a celebration of all that is good about local music.

A music festival is nothing without a killer line-up and Coaster have pulled out all the stops. Throughout the day and evening you will have the opportunity to catch New Pagans, Joshua Burnside, CATALAN!, Brash Isaac, Thrash Hat, Beauty Sleep, Cherym, Dugout and Ferals with more apparently still to be announced.

The day will begin at an outdoor stage at the modern hip coffee shop Babushka followed by an evening show in the classic North Coast hang out The Atlantic Bar. Lacada Brewing Cooperative will be providing beer and hosting a tasting event and Surfers Against Sewage will be there, along with various other activists, promoting a number of causes close to Ewen’s heart.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be bought for £11 via WeGotTickets.

"Supporting local is the way forward. We want venues that are locally run, supporting local bands, but bringing big bands in too. I’m very optimistic, I think it’s going to be wonderful when it all opens up.”

We spoke to New Pagans’ Lyndsey McDougall about the band’s debut album, politics and motherhood in music, and the pandemic.
