Lawson’s Chapman Square Tour

Lawson, a highly promising band that created huge waves in 2013, are set to sweep UK with their unique blend of acoustic rock and pop ballad repertoire. The misconstrued ‘boyband’ found breakthrough success with their single, Standing In The Dark, a song that both compels you to release all your emotional and pushes you to accentuate the cheesy romantic that we all have inside us.  The band possess a very clean contemporary rock style, citing influences such as Maroon 5, John Mayer and Guns n Roses.

The band formed via the much lamented (old) MySpace, when Adam Pitts  (drummer) decided to message Andy Brown (lead singer and acoustic guitar) over at the latter’s acoustic music page. From there, things went on the fate roller-coaster and by 2010 they started writing and recording songs. It didn’t take long for their song When She Was Mine to became one of the highest-rated songs  just a week after going online. Their worldwide recognition was, in some part, owed to obtained an opening support slot for The Wanted during their ‘The Behind the Bars Tour’. Their constant hard work and touring landed them a record deal with Polydor Records effective September 8 2011. Their debut album, Chapman Square, was released October 22 2012 preceded by the singles When She Was Mine, Taking Over Me, and Standing in The Dark – all of which ranked in the Top 10 of the UK charts.

The (New) Role of Youtube and Online Communities.

Google’s video community has certainly made it a better world for many faceless talents to become instantly well known – people, events, sports, hobbies and even dance crazes can spring up and collect millions of views out of seemingly nowhere. Thanks to communities like these, Lawson, and even Justin Bieber were given a platform to get noticed by bigwig music industry movers. The band were discovered on one of these communities – YouTube – by organizers of the popular band The Wanted.

The Lawson tour begins February 22 and will conclude on March 23.
