Sacrilege is the first single to be taken from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ up and coming album, Mosquito. Low key to begin with, it rolls in with Karen O’s muted vocals: distorted and delayed a la “Rich” off first album, Fever To Tell. Reverb heavy drums accompany a repeated spiraling guitar motif in a dreamy sway. Where it lacks the instant kick of “Heads Will Roll”, it makes it up with a glorious build of gospel choir repeating Sacrilege in ironically joyous tones. You will be singing along, but it’s a cleaner, more sedate offering compared their last releases off It’s Blitz. Mosquito is released on the 15th April.
