Call it what you will – a band, a project, a who’s-who of local ne’er-do-wells (ok, I made that one up), Molarbear is going to make a name for itself in its own right. That infamy is as likely, if not moreso, than fame, is only to be expected from members of Jackelfeud, (inside) and The Big Grizzly (once seen never forgotten).
With the kind of detuned madness and mayhem reminiscent of early Queens of the Stone Age (and now sadly lacking in present day Q.O.T.S.A) and Mastodon, ‘Fierce Brosnan’ is aptly named as it doesn’t merely come through the speakers into the listeners ears. It bursts through the speakers and marauds through your aural senses like an army breaking a siege and sacking the city. It’s ferocious, with chunks of riffs full of meaty goodness, like that really top grade pet food that you consider eating after a night on the ales, when you can’t see straight or be bothered to cook.
By that very same token, it won’t be to everyone’s tastes (you haven’t lived). Throat shredding vocals, excessive use of industrial language and distinct lack of uplifting subject matter may alienate some of you. In which case you can stick to your free U2 download and give this particular free download a miss.
The rest of us? Ah now…where’s the tin-opener? I’ve got the munchies.
