Marking a new decade with new music sounds like a good idea to us. Back on 1st January Kilgour did just that with a debut single ‘My Parents Car‘.
Kilgour is the new musical venture of Northern Irishman Fionn Crossan, with previous releases under his own name and stints in Brand New Friend and Fox Colony. Now based in Glasgow, and with a new band behind him, this is his first release as Kilgour.
‘My Parents Car’ is awash with grunge. Droning arpeggios, glitchy, fuzzed up guitars and a heavy and steady rhythm section take the song back to the 90s. Despite the heaviness, ‘My Parents Car’ sits in almost dreamlike state due to the track’s hypnotic nature and Crossan’s resolute vocals.
Recorded in Smalltown America, with old friends and producer Caolan Austin, ‘My Parents Car’ gives Crossan’s Kilgour a fresh start. A grungy, dreamlike fresh start.
