Camden Crawl Dublin – 4th May 2013

Echo & the Bunnyment

Saturday 4th May 2013 – Dublin Camden Crawl

Having never attended the Dublin Camden Crawl before, I treated it like any other festival and did my research on the bands I intended to photograph.  With so many venues hosting incredibly talented bands, I wanted to get to as many as humanly possible so that I could photograph them.

Swords were the first band up to play and the first band I got to photograph on the Saturday at The Button Factory.  A very talented group and to be honest one I had not heard of before, but after seeing them perform live I will be keeping a close eye on them over the coming months as they can only get bigger and better.

Some other bands I got the privilege to photograph were Ships, Nanu Nanu, Heathers, The Altered Hours and last but not least the crème de la crème, Echo & The Bunnymen who performed in front of a jam packed audience.  They showed that even though they may be in their 50s, they proved that they can still put on a great show with the crowd cheering at lead singer Ian McCullochs every move, even when he turned away to have his choice of drink being full fat milk.

Every single one of these bands did not disappoint and put on incredibly energetic shows, with the stand out act being the electronic pop duo Nanu Nanu who got everyone dancing at the Workmans Club.

To pick out my favourite band from the ones I photographed is extremely hard, with so much talent bursting from each and every one of them, from beautifully written songs to outstanding live performances I am sure I will never forget. The band that stood out and struck me the most would have to be Swords, with their indie electro song All The Boys still stuck in my head a day later. I would highly recommend seeing them as many others who attended the gig were converted just after hearing them perform.
