His New Atlas is essentially Eoghan O’Hagan from Co. Armagh. He is a remarkably talented young man, as his debut single ‘Lost & Found’ proved a few months back. It was one of the most impressive debut releases I have ever heard. It was a release of such ambition as well as quality that it would have been hard not to have been impressed, but ambition is one thing, actually pulling that off is another. That was what impressed me even more.
There was only one question remaining. Could His New Atlas maintain that quality?
‘Blood’ has shown that the answer to that question is undoubtedly ‘yes’. It has all the hallmarks I already have come to expect from His New Atlas. It has the same warm, clear production as ‘Lost & Found’, the same tenderness of tone and voice and the same strong sense of structure in the song without it being in any way formulaic.
All I can say to him is ‘keep er lit lad’ and all I can say to you is ‘check out His New Atlas‘.
