The latest of a recent stream of Arvo Party releases is another collaboration with the incredible LARKS. Their cover of ‘Running Up That Hill‘ is a new take on the Kate Bush classic.
Arvo Party’s production replaces Bush’s classic 80’s synthesisers with live strings and a deeper, pulsing bass line. The modernised production does not lose any of the urgent “running” effect of the classic. It pushes further and is more urgent.
LARKS has the challenge of taking on the iconic Kate Bush and she manages to not only honour the tone, complexity and power of the song but breath new life into it. The few melodic changes are part of LARKS’ unique style and what make this vocal performance so entrancing.
The cover maintains the overall mystical and urgent feeling whilst simultaneously completely rebuilding the song in a modern sense, proving the incredible expertise and talent from both artists.
