The release of alt indie-pop artist Lauren Ann’s new single, ‘Blatant’ proves how enchanting song writing can powerfully confront heartbreak.
“It’s about being let down by someone you didn’t think (or rather didn’t want to believe) could hurt you”, she reveals. Combining garage rock type grit with flashes of ambient grunge guitar, in perfect punk poise, ‘Blatant’ also exhibits the importance of staying true to who you are.
Lauren explains, “I didn’t want to write love songs as it’s not who I am, so I ended up doing break-up songs instead”. After signing to Dublin label Faction last summer and continuing to write tracks with echoes of Slowdive, SOAK, Pillow Queens and the Pixies, Lauren definitely has tons of potential to reach above and beyond.
