Back in 2012 a young folk singer-songwriter, hailing from County Down’s Magheralin, released ‘Save Myself’, his debut EP. Opening with the wonderfully catchy number ‘He Isn’t Right For You’, the rest of Patrick Gardiner‘s release was a collection of nuanced folk songs. Another EP in the form of ‘Carcassonne’ followed last year, but Gardiner’s latest release may be his best yet.
‘Riverside Remark’ focuses on Gardiner’s songwriting, guitar and of course vocals. On this new track, Gardiner’s voice is stronger than any of his previous releases, showcased perfectly by his emotive vocals in the song’s stirring chorus. Backed by growing instrumentals, Gardiner’s lyrics are equally focused and confident here, with a refrain that takes the song to a new level.
The release of ‘Riverside Remark’ comes with the announcement of tour dates in Northern Ireland, England and Germany. The track will also appear on Patrick Gardiner’s self-produced debut album, set for release next year.
