The nature of our relationship with music often means songs evoke new feelings based on our circumstances, surroundings and the time of year. So it was no surprise that Swimming Tapes‘ last single, ‘Set The Fire’ felt like a real summer jam on its release a few months ago. Now well into Autumn, the band can still be counted on to provide a little sun.
The five-piece, featuring a connection or two to Bangor legends Kowalski, have racked up the listens on their first singles, on Soundcloud alone ‘Set The Fire’ has reached 100 thousand streams. Now onto their third release, the band are sticking to their successful formula. ‘Tides’ is another woozy, chilled few minutes of indie-pop. Its dreamy guitar sound almost guarantees to instantly transport the listener to another place if they sit back and listen. That’s in no small part to its apt imagery of orange groves as “sunlight splintered through the leaves”.
Put your feet up and enjoy a little indie escapism.
