It’s hard not to be encouraged by the sheer number of young Northern Irish artists out to make a name for themselves these days. The talented Belfast & Durham based Rebekah Fitch may not be too familiar just yet, but her infectious second single ‘Here We Go’ may change that.
Fitch boasts an impressive musical history to date, with her first ever solo performance coming at the age of 15 in the Ulster Hall. Time spent busking, performing and the odd Youtube cover has clearly paid off for Fitch who has produced an impressive follow-up to June’s debut single ‘Stroke of Genius’.
Sitting very much in the pop world, ‘Here We Go’ is a catchy three minute number with upbeat instrumentation driven by acoustic guitar and piano that betrays the song’s darker message of failure and self-control. ‘Stroke of Genius’ certainly had a catchy chorus but the KT Tunstall vibes on ‘Here We Go’ build to a radio-ready hook which demonstrates Fitch’s strong and soulful vocals. Fitch’s vocals are the star of the show here, showcased to full potential in the song’s bridge. The song’s vibe is encapsulated by the video, directed by Dog Kennel Productions.
It’s no surprise that Rebekah Fitch has already been receiving radio-play. Based on ‘Here We Go’, we’d be expecting plenty more to come her way.
