Indie-folk six piece Runabay are in a rich vein of form. While they all hail from different places it’s the Glens of Antrim which define their sound most clearly of all. That influence can be heard on new single ‘You I Know‘.
The recent launch for the latest single was a sell out and it’s no surprise after a string of releases that have seen the band hone their brand of indie-folk. ‘You I Know’ is the latest in that line and it sees the band and vocalist John McManus in introspective mood. McManus’ hushed vocals are carried along on a wave of fingerpicked guitar and cello. Once the music picks up, the percussion and harmonised backing vocals join in to drive the song to emotional heights. The accompanying video is produced by Empty Horoscope Media and features a suitably affecting story line interspersed with the band.
Runabay have been finding plenty of success already, with releases attracting more press and praise and the shows reaching further afield. This is a band that has learnt their strengths, producing gorgeous and stirring music that looks set to bring them further triumphs.
