It’s been more than a little while since we’ve been able to celebrate some new music from Armagh’s Silences. Since the release of last April’s ‘Luna’ EP, the five-piece have kept things largely under wraps aside from their live performances, including SXSW no less. With their summer plans including a slot or two at Glastonbury, now is as good a time as any to release some new music. Step forward ‘Red Dress’.
‘Red Dress’ is slinky and sleek, Conchúr White’s vocals sit atop a steady beat and some understated keys and guitar. The smooth production brings the band’s key elements altogether but give them a newer sound. Christopher Harbinson’s guitar pulls forward and back between choruses and verses until a big outro. The band have been pushing their sonic dynamics further from last year’s ‘Luna’ onwards and continue to do so on ‘Red Dress’, not afraid to sound more direct. The accompanying music video, edited by White himself matches the lyrics to mellow but cinematic visuals.
‘Red Dress’ is out 24th June and available to stream now.
