‘Goodbye‘ is the intimate and haunting new single from Sonja Sleator’s upcoming third EP Violent Strawberry, a follow from Adams and Ghost.
Sleator has established herself as an Irish singer songwriter releasing story driven music, with ‘Goodbye’ no exception. The song explains the realities and conflicts of leaving a toxic relationship. Though they are no longer effected by this person, it is difficult to walk away after they put so much into the relationship “I had fallen on my knees the day I tried, goodbye”. It feels almost intrusive as she sings to the other person in the relationship.
The black and white music video features Sleator against a plain backdrop making only small and slow head movements, often blurring several movements together. An incredibly impactful, and gentle addition to the instrumentation of ‘Goodbye’.
Sonja Sleator celebrates the launch of her Violent Strawberry EP with a show in The Pavilion, Belfast on 20th April, joined by Glass Wings, Ethan Hanna and Sarah Buckley. Tickets and preorder bundles are available now via Tin Man Heart.
