One of the more unique bands in Northern Ireland at the moment, Strength NIA often toe the line between the brilliant and the absurd. Latest single ‘La Floresta’ does just that.
The Derry band’s typically unorthodox approach is back on ‘La Floresta’ as vocalist Rory Moore explores the normal and abnormal through dairy, sleeping in heather and daily drudgery. The track is an unconventional and unrelenting groove of changing basslines, overlaid with keys and synths, which at times hark back to the retro sounds of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Accompanied by a Conor McFeely directed video which features a bust of Moore’s head of all things, ‘La Floresta’ is the band’s biggest claim to alt-pop infectiousness yet.
