Songwriting duo The Rising are doing their damndest to make something out of a difficult year for the arts. A stream of new releases over the last number of months has led to 2020’s sixth single ‘2AM Call‘.
‘2AM Call’ is the band’s first co-write but undeniably retains their signature country soaked sound. Co-written with another talented Northern Irish songwriter in Eilís, the song was conceived after a night out in Belfast, putting words and a narrative to an encounter they witnessed. A break up song at its heart, regrets and a desire for forgiveness sit at home in the song’s country rock’s melancholy. Bringing their DIY ethos to the fore, the duo went the stop-motion route for the track’s lyric video.
Keeping the 2020 energy going, the band livestream every Monday night on their Facebook page, with chat and stripped back performances.
