What They Say: “Pilgrims of the church of scuzzy rock.”

◀ Q & A ▶

▶  Tell us about your stage name?

Listening to us is like being slapped by a lascivious tramp. Unforgettable and arousing. We wanted a name that would represent that.

▶ When did you start playing music and how would you describe your sound?

AquaTramp started about 2 years ago and were joined by Scott on bass late last year. We like to think that our music will make people want to dance and be happy, while still being big and mean enough to bang your head to.

▶ What music have you put out so far?

We released our first EP last summer as a collection of the first songs we had ever written as a group. Off the back of writing the first EP we found a sense of direction in terms of style and purpose which is an ongoing process.

▶ Is there a particular live show which stands out amongst all the rest?

Our first EP launch was a really exciting gig. We were overwhelmed by the support we received and it gave us a taste of what we want to achieve with this band!

▶ What has been the highlight of the journey so far?

A highlight for us would be taking part in the Guinness Versus competition, at which we made it to the final. The positive feedback we received and the focus that we employed was a great asset for the band for the future.

▶ You are in control of forming a 4 piece ‘super group’ – who is in it and what do they do?

Christian Bale, Josh Homme, The Hulk and Beyonce. That would be cool.

▶ If you were to go on a world tour and you could pick any 3 acts to come along, who would they be?

Clutch, Sabbath and Queens of the Stone age.

▶ What would be the 3 strangest things on your rider if you were able to make any demand?

Puppies, chutney and a hammer.

▶ Who has been your biggest inspiration as a musician?

We couldn’t pick one person to represent all 5 of us, but collectively we are inspired by people like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Serj Tankian, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme.

▶ Is there a particular aim or goal which you hope to achieve through music?

We want to be able to play our music for a living and bring people together in the process.
