The Last Generation
Saturday 24th August 2013 – Cellar Bar, Draperstown
The local lads from Last Generation take to the stage for their last time to play the penultimate gig at the Cellar Bar Draperstown. I first seen Last G play here for their first time ever way back in January 2011 and as impressive as we all thought they were then, they have undoubtedly come a long long way and they completely blew everyone away with their new EP.
Not holding anything back the boys kicked things off with Chromosome, their first track on their new EP and straight away the shirts are off and the mosh pit erupted. This quite possibly has one of my favourite intro’s I have heard in a while! What an epic way to start an unreal night. They then take us back to their album Revelation and belt out two oldies ‘Classic Manson’ and ‘Frankly’, even with the addition of the new drummer Conor Doc, the guitarist, Stephen O’Hagan and him are extremely tight, they constantly are working off each other, really impressive!
‘Distort Reality’ from their new EP was up next, the intro as good as it is, is simply just a taster for what was to come, the roof lifted of the Cellar during the solo, just before they slowed everything down for the distorted chorus, and man was it impressive. This is one of the way’s that proves how far this band has come since 2011 and is just a glimpse of what they still have to give!
‘Battle Royale’, ended things for tonight and for a lot of people the cellar bar. Let’s all hope for the sake of Mid-Ulster music scene the Cellar comes back as somewhere that can host a gig as incredible as this. Lets hope The last generation are not actually our last generation. If you are someone who enjoys originality, tightness and impressive guitar solos …you will most definitely enjoy the Last Generation.
