This week starts off quiet but towards the end of the week there is a deluge of gigs for all tastes.
Spectrum Festival – Black Box – Tuesday 23rd April 2013
Spectrum Festival is a brand new indoor festival which is doing its best to highlight a small selection of Irish music. Headlined by Mojo GoGo who are receiving critical acclaim from all corners and an impressive supporting cast of Runaway GO, Jason Clarke, Pretty Child Backfire, Hologram, Howl, Ryan McMullan and Jonny Reid.
Tickets available online and at door for £10 Adults / £8 Students (student ID required)
Radar: A Plastic Rose – Speakeasy – Thursday 25th April 2013
This week’s edition of Radar will no doubt be a riotous affair but one tinged with sadness as local scene stalwarts, A Plastic Rose play their final Belfast show before moving to London. Their debut album, ‘Camera. Shutter. Life’ took seven years to come to fruition and it was well worth the wait. So clear your calendar for this Thursday, you’ll kick yourself if you miss this show.
Entry is completely FREE!
Birds of Chicago – Ulster Museum – Friday 26th April 2013
My last recommendation is a bit left-field particularly as the venue is the Ulster Museum but Mr Forgie has already praised their virtues (Introducing #11 – Birds of Chicago). Described as gorgeous, nearly perfect Americana, the chance to see JT Nero and Allison Russell in such a unique venue is one that you shouldn’t pass up.
Tickets are £10 and available from No Alibis bookstore (by emailing David, or calling the shop on 9031 9607).
