Stream: Balcony Sunrise – Velvet Ocean

Balcony Sunrise

I’m sure that there are a lot of music enthusiasts out there who see “electronic” music as nothing more than white noise – a somewhat non – musical idea that took off and somehow flourished under the stewardship of button pressers across the globe. There are however times that this, “blip” on the radar of these musical snobs, should not be ignored by anyone – snob or cowboys of the floating frontier. With Balcony Sunrise’s debut offering, “Velvet Ocean”; a little advice – concede!

Plunge into it’s swishy, slurpy depths, find it’s origins and realise that this is real music, with a real journey worth taking. I have listened to this track now possibly hundreds of times. It is fast becoming the soundtrack to the moody air about town; with 2021 off to a somewhat muted and sour start. This is chill music to sink your teeth into, evoking a sunset dripping wonderland of delight and synth-y passion. If this song’s sole purpose was to seek out both connoisseurs and naysayers alike, to tempt and lure them into it’s clutches, then it has succeeded tenfold. Velvet Ocean quickly burrows it’s way into sub consciousness, and then refuses to leave… And we, obedient as we are, take the bait – patient in our diligence waiting out this global storm of life pausing proportions – how could you not? So do yourself a favour and just eat it up.

This song is a flowing continuous mix, filled with glistening synth lines, tasty delicious guitar and throbbing, hypnotic swells that feverishly stay in the head days and days after listening. It takes me back, to better days – playing Vice City on a summers day, the orange and pink sky painting a picture of romance and nostalgia to my innocent 10 year old eyes – a picture that would never leave me. Velvet Ocean, will lift you off, fly you around across a neon drenched galaxy and then cradle you in it’s soft, loving and warming arms as you drift back down from space to solid terra firma. Indulge.
