Stream: The Wood Burning Savages – Purple Heart

At what point can we start calling The Wood Burning Savages NI music veterans? The Derry born band have been causing a ruckus since 2013, longer than most in the country, but can still without fail set pulses racing. And now they’re at it again, with the one-two of a new single and a debut album announcement.

‘Purple Heart’ is a rapid three minutes, as the band rip through the subject of war and PTSD. Never ones to shy away from politics, the band’s frenetic live shows are regularly dotted with frontman Paul Connolly’s impassioned calls to arms. On ‘Purple Heart’ Connolly is on energetic form as the new look band refuse to let the tempo drop.

The single dropped alongside news of a long awaited album. ‘Stability’ is set for release on 27th April and should already be one of the most anticipated releases from these shores. The band play next week’s Output Belfast at the Black Box, so stick on the single and then witness one of the best live acts you’ll see in Belfast.
