No Matter Need You

No Matter Need You

Fat Wreck Chords needs little introduction to those with a fondness for bouncy pop punk. Run by Fat Mike from NOFX, their back catalogue contains the likes of Subhumans, Leftover Crack, Rancid, Sick Of It All, Descendents and Rise Against as well as NOFX. And a new documentary will undoubtedly boost the label’s profile further.

‘A Fat Wreck’ will tell the story of the label by enlisting “the artists, recording engineers and record label itself” but also using the perspective of the “fans, bands, writers, club owners, promoters, and everyone else influenced one way or another by this music” to give the documentary another side.

And why Fat? The filmmakers have a simple and direct answer: “for better or worse, depending on who you ask, Fat Wreck Chords was a major player in the resurgence of punk rock in the early ’90s with significant influence on the genre and a very likely long lasting impact on the history of punk rock.”

Let’s hope they don’t ask anyone who looked after NOFX when they first played Belfast. On a different note, Belfast pop punkers No Matter have entered a competition relating to the film. Recording a cover of Bracket‘s contribution to the ‘Fat Music For Fat People’ compilation, ‘2RAK005’

To help them, Simply click the link below, listen to it and hit ‘share’. The ‘like’ button will appear.

According to the rules: “The top 5 covers with the most “likes” get on the physical comp and receive 1 copy per band/artist  of The 12″ and a Screen Printed poster. The top voted cover will receive 12″ a CD a T-Shirt a Screen Printed poster and possible some other perks as they are announced. The winning band/artist will be invited to come to the first screening as well as have their cover in the film.”

Not a bad prize is it? So let’s help No Matter. Get listening and liking before 30th April.
