Aidan Logan – ‘Tell Me’

Aidan Logan – ‘Tell Me’

Belfast singer-songwriter Aidan Logan has done a lot in a short time. Constantly gigging, he has notched up some impressive gigs, including sharing the stage with the likes of Levity Breaks and playing at the One World Festival in Derry. As well as the live work, Logan has been busy in the studio recording the forthcoming ‘Facing Forward’ E.P. ‘Tell Me’ is the first single released from the E.P. and gives us a foretaste of what is to come.

‘Tell Me’ is a bouncy, toe-tapping, uncomplicated Country/Pop song with bright production (care of Ganesh Kumble) and shows that Logan is an accomplished writer of Nashville-style songs. There is nothing too heavy or downbeat, even if the song is about a love that’s been lost. Logan has a sweet, natural voice which he uses sparingly, never getting involved in histrionics, and this compliments the music perfectly. The whole song has a feel of effortlessness which would make some other writers feel a bit jealous.

In truth, ‘Tell Me’ is a little bit syrupy for my taste, but there is no getting away from the talent that young Mr Logan possesses. With Country music having a real resurgence on this island and the amount of opportunities there are for singer-songwriters to get out there and show what they can do to large and varied audiences, Logan has every opportunity to impress both with his E.P. and live with his four-piece band.
