Premiere: ROE – Fake Ur Death

PREMIERE: ROE - FAKE UR DEATH

The latest in Derry’s musical talents, Roisin Donald aka ROE is not only looking towards a bright future but seems poised for immediate success. The young Irish artist has found plenty of attention already, but her latest single ‘Fake Ur Death‘ is her most impressive yet.

ROE’s debut EP was only released earlier this year, with three strong tracks, none more so than the infectious ‘Closer to You’. With new single ‘Fake Ur Death’ the first track to be taken from her next EP, ROE has certainly given us high expectations. ROE’s enthralling voice delivers a tale of yearning, backed by slick production. Strong synths and drums take over from the quieter intro of reverb heavy guitar to produce an enticing mix under ROE’s vocals. ‘Fake Ur Death’ moves away from the more acoustic singer-songwriter style on her previous release, towards alt-pop leanings. On this evidence, it’s a progression that has certainly paid off.

Fake Ur Death’ is about how sometimes you just can’t help but lose touch with the people around you. One day you can read what’s in their head and the next you don’t even know how they like their tea anymore. Whether it’s because of how they’ve changed or how you have, you’re just left there wondering; is it one sugar or two?”

The new single marks an impressive 2016 for ROE, with ‘Fake Ur Death’ given its first radio play on BBC Foyle’s Electric Mainline last night. Support from Tom Robinson and a collaboration with MOBO award nominated David Lyttle bolster a live CV that includes slots at Stendhal Festival of Art and PORTS’ album launch.

‘Fake Ur Death’ is the first single from ROE’s upcoming EP ‘You Call It Art’, set for release in Spring 2017 on independent record label, Fictive Kin.
