Every month we take a look back at the best new releases from Northern Ireland in our featured playlist. A showcase for the sheer amount of talent coming out of the North, and a playlist worthy of repeat listening. This month’s cover artist is Lavengro.
Featured tracks
Lavengro – Anchors
We made this song for people who have been affected by addiction and are battling their demons. The song is called Anchors because no matter how deep you get, someone who cares about you will always be there to keep you drifting away.
It’s a change of pace from our previous singles which are more upbeat and quirky. We went a bit darker with this one as its a subject we thought that many people would relate to and wanted to get the message across to anyone affected with this complex disease ; you’re not alone. Lavengro
Reevah – daydreamer
A revitalised version of an older track, ‘daydreamer’ has been given a new lease of life with bigger production that mixes with Reevah’s soulful and dreamy voice. ‘daydreamer’ is a strong track, worthy of a revisit amongst Reevah’s current run of form.
Yinyang – Poison Darts / Boyish Charms
The latest from Yinyang aka Lauren Lauren Hannan leans into the unhinged in its eclectic few minutes. Billed as a hip hop artist, Yinyang throws any preconception out the window. Trying to get things off her chest in ‘Poison Darts / Boyish Charms’ while her delivery and the music hammers through changes and punk energy.
Shores – Crawling the Walls
A lush and emotive folk rock track from songwriter Stephen Reilly. Recorded with former Silences pair Conchur White and Chris Harbinson, ‘Crawling the Walls’ has no illusions of grandeur, with simple but gorgeous guitar and piano allowing Reilly’s smoky vocals to shine through.
