Since 2014’s Another Teen Age EP, Belfast’s new favourites Hot Cops have been a fairly prolific band, keeping up a steady stream of releases. ‘Passive Passive’ is the latest in this line of standout single releases after Decay/Six and Origami/Novelty.
The single should be familiar to anyone fortunate to have witnessed the band’s increasingly well attended live shows. ‘Passive Passive’ has all the elements from the Hot Cops formula with frontman Carl Eccles’ disinterested vocals (minus the odd flourish of passion) delivering sarcasm tinged and twisted lyrics over a soundtrack of Parquet Courts meets Cloud Nothings. The single is set to be released on limited edition 7″ vinyl on Paper Trail Records, with ‘Scared of Everything’.
The band are set for two single release shows in Dublin and Belfast.
Wednesday 3rd February – Sweeney’s, Dublin
Tuesday 9th February – Lavery’s, Belfast
