Michael Mormecha is a name well known in Northern Irish music. Best known for fronting alt-rockers Mojo Fury, Mormecha is also a member of electro-pop Loris and is currently in Chicago recording with folk band Malojian. All this before mentioning Millbank Studios, his home farmhouse where he has produced multiple great Northern Irish records. Mormecha full list of musical credits would go on and on. Somehow though, he’s found the time to plough ahead with his own solo project.
Having previously released under the Clown Parlour moniker, this solo work is in many ways of a similar persuasion. ‘Family’ is the first track from Michael Mormecha’s debut solo album ‘LOFi LiFE‘ set for release on 9th May 2016 on Swallow Song Records. And what a track it is, ‘Family’ is a slice of alt pop and rock. A bed of rhymthic delayed guitar in the verses giving way to a big shimmering sound in the chorus with a melody that echoes in your head long after listening, and a lyrical theme that’ll surely resonate.
‘LOFi LiFE’ is currently in the middle of a pledge campaign with regular updates available to pledgers. The list of items available for pledge include digital and physical copies of the album alongside more elaborate purchases including a songwriting session, a cover song of your choice, original artwork and even daring Michael to do something. At time of writing, the pledge has already hit 75% with 65 days left.
